If you are what you eat, what does it mean when you thoroughly enjoy a fresh from the stove ear of corn on the cob dripping with butter and salt? If you are not worried about weight loss, you have little to worry about, go ahead and enjoy this refreshing and healthy tasting treat. Many people wonder just what is wrong with this food anyway.
Well, In America the average adult consumes 67% of their total caloric intake from only 3 foods - corn, soy and wheat. The consumption of these 3 foods should only be about 5 to 10% of our total diet.
Massive health problems associated with diabetes can be traced back to this imbalance. This means the primary enemy to your dieting efforts and weight loss are these three specific food types.
It should come as no surprise that many are coming down with allergic reactions and severe intolerance for wheat, soy and many times gluten.
Massive amounts of the following food products are hard on your digestive system:
1. Refined wheat flour
2. High fructose corn syrup
3. Corn oil
4. Soy protein
5. Soybean oil (hydrogenated or plain refined)
Possibly hundreds more including soy lecithin, wheat or cornstarch, mono or diglycerides and many more.
Foods that contain high levels of high fructose corn syrup include but are not limited to breads, salad dressings, ketchup, sodas, marinades and hundreds of others.
Here is another shocking fact; farmers feed their beef cattle a diet high in soy or corn knowing full well their bodies were not designed for it. They do this to add fat, which translates to weight, which earns the farmer more money when they sell them for processing.
Omega 6 to omega 3 ratios are altered and become unhealthy when farm animals are fed a steady diet of soy and corn. If that were not enough they will also experience a drop in CLA, fats that come naturally to grass fed cattle. This is also a fact for farm-raised fish, salmon and chickens.
When you eat beef, chicken and fish you are still consuming foods that contain negative attributes for your health because of all the corn, soy fat buildup.
In order to lose weight and finally get a hold on your health the first place you should begin is the supermarket.
Don't buy processed foods! Buy simple healthy foods. Fruits, veggies, beans, eggs (free roaming chickens) nuts, seeds, and meats from grass fed or free roaming animals.
1. Use your cheat day as a day to eat out that way the junk food is not in the house all the time tempting you.
2. This is best on 1 day dinning out so that it isn't in your home to tempt you.
3. Tomato sauces contain soybean oils and HFCS, avoid them. Instead, choose sauces created with olive oil.
4. Try to avoid tomato sauces that have HFCS and soybean oils. Choose sauces made with olive oils instead. You must avoid unhealthy canola oils too.
5. When you are hankering for corn chips try a crisp veggie stick with guacamole.
6. Reduce your cereal, bread, and pasta intake by having them on your cheat day.
My point is, you're not going to always be perfect with your diet, but you have to get the percentages of corn, soy, wheat and their myriad of derivatives back in line with good health standards. Your long term health and weight loss depend on it.
